I have noticed recently that hog hunting is becoming very popular among hunters including myself! At first when they started showing up on our hunting property I considered them a nuisance because they were tearing up my food plots and my feeders I had for the deer and finally realized i was just gonna have to deal with em I guess!

Hogs at My Feeder with Game Camera

What i did realize though finally was they are a blast to hunt, you can hunt em year round, and that even though they are mean and ugly lookin they sure taste great! My girlfriend Michele even thinks they are great eatin! So now instead of gettin rid of em I just wanna keep em under control.

Another Game Camera Pic

We took 13 hogs off of our place this year during the 08 deer season.I took 11 myself, my son took 1, which was his first kill ever and my buddy got 1 so we been eatin good for awhile this year! lol

Eight hogs I took while I was deer hunting over my feeder and food plots and three I caught in a hog trap I borrowed from a friend. When I got the hogs I trapped back to our camp to field dress and skin and quarter em Michele kept sayin ” That ones kinda fat you think shes pregnant?” I told her, “No probably just fat from all the corn shes been eatin from my feeder” but found out when I started field dressin her that I was wrong! She had nine babies in her and I gotta say I did feel terrible about it but in another sense I’m glad she didnt have them because as I said before I am tryin to keep em under control and with the litters they have they are hard to keep from over populating wherever they are at!

I love huntin em though and bowhunting them is a blast too! Like I said before I am new at this and wish I had alot more stuff to show but from here on out since startin this thing I will start takin more pics and try to even get some video footage of hunts later.

Heres a couple I got last deer season while huntin over one of my feeders. Actually got the small one by accident. There were about 8 hogs eatin under my feeder and I picked out the biggest 1 to shoot and when I shot the big one they all took off except the one I shot and a smaller one that was on the other side of the larger one. I found that my 140Grain Sierra soft point bullet or a piece of my bullet from my 7mm mag had exited the far side of the larger one and hit the other one high in the back and knocked it down too! Thats pretty good bullet preformance I thought seein as how the biggest hog had a layer of fat 2 inches thick!

Not sure how much they weighed because I dont own any scales yet (but plan on gettin soon) but just guesstimatin I know the biggest is close to 300lbs and the smaller ones around 60lbs or so. Hope to show you some more soon!
