Ready for Vacation

Well we finally gettin’ all settled in at our new deer camp. Got a fence and gate put back up across the front of the property so we should not be having any trespassers hopefully. Still have not got a deer yet but I have seen a few. Had a couple of does bust me Thursday morning when the wind shifted while I was still hunting on the back side of the property.

I  had a  4 point walk right under me Friday morning while I was in my climbing stand. It was tough letting him pass, especially since I am wanting to try out this new recipe I found for backstraps, but I held off.  I put up a feeder and filled it with corn but nothing has seemed to have found it yet. Didn’t really figure on it attracting much right now anyway, due to all the acorns that are on the ground.

I have been hunting in the mornings and working around the place in the afternoons so I have not had any evening hunts so far. Before I left yesterday I moved my stands around a little. I didn’t move them far from where they were, but just moved them to where I could get a little better view. Been seeing a lot of new rubs popping up and I hear that the rut is starting so maybe my luck will change!

My vacation starts tomorrow and it is supposed to rain and then turn cooler Monday, with lows in the 40’s and highs in the 60’s sunny and clear. The moon is gonna be dark so it should be a perfect week. Hopefully sometime before the end of next week I will be posting pics of a good buck and eating some backstraps. I am pumped!
