Opening Day Bow Season 09

Well hope everyone’s bow season is going good, my opening day was a bust. Hunted from daylight until 11:30am this morning and only saw squirrels. Weather was good this morning, the temp was in the low 50’s with no wind hardly at all until about 11 or so, but by then it begin to whip up pretty strong.  After that I decided to climb down and just started easing around the woods looking for new deer sign.

The ruts in the old logging road I was hunting over were standing in water with acorns and deer tracks all around them.  I am a little surprised I did not see any deer moving through my stand area, as good as the weather felt, but I think the full moon might have had alot to do with the slow activity too.

It is just the first day so I am not discouraged in the least. Planned on an evening hunt but the wind picked up and started swirling pretty good, so I figured my best bet was to just stay out and wait for a better day. Supposed to start storming tonight so hope everything is calmed back down and settled again before Thursday which is the next day I can hunt.

All in all it felt good just being in the stand. If I had taken my .22  I could have limited out on squirrels the first hour of daylight. But if I had of been hunting squirrels, I would have seen deer and no squirrels Lol!
